Japanese brewing giant Sapporo said to purchase iconic 121 year old Anchor Brewing Company of San Fransisco, CA. Sapporo, who is actually 20 years older than Anchor, is purchasing the brewery from current owners Keith Greggor and Tony Foglio, who acquired the brewery from craft beer legend Fritz Maytag in 2010. They are stated to be continuing operations at their current headquarters until the reach capacity and keeping all recipes the same, but will open up a brewpub across the street. Anchor Distilling Company, which distills gins, vodkas, and whiskies was not a part of the deal.
